Taking a Bite Out of Breast Cancer

Tria Café — Philadelphia, PA

If you’re in the City of Brotherly Love this October, drink pink with Tria Café at any of their locations throughout the city. For every glass of cava rosat sold at this "destination for wine, cheese, and beer lovers," Tria will donate $1 to Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC). LBBC offers support and education to all women affected by breast cancer, empowering and helping them live the highest-quality lives possible.

Olive & Ivy — Scottsdale, AZ

Located just outside Phoenix, Olive & Ivy provides a Mediterranean oasis in the middle of Arizona. They’ve partnered with Domaine Chandon and Belvedere Vodka to put three cocktails on the menu for October, with the proceeds benefiting the Arizona Institute for Breast Health. This nonprofit provides free second opinions about treatment to women diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as education and support about their options. Drink pink at Olive & Ivy all month on their patio while watching pink lights shine on the Marshall Way trolley bridge in honor of lives that have been impacted by breast cancer.

Chop’t Creative Salad Company — NYC

This October, all Chop’t locations are dressing in pink by donating $2 from the sale of each limited-edition Pink Goddess Salad and Pink Goddess Salad Sandwich. The money will go to the Pink Pony Fund, Ralph Lauren’s initiative to reduce disparities in cancer care across the world. The featured salad is made of grilled chicken, pickled red onions, avocado, black beans, cotija cheese, romaine, and mesclun lettuces (or get it wrapped in grilled honey wheat flatbread for a sandwich).

Dolce Delights by Candace Chang — Houston, TX

Dolce Delights, an independent bakery in Houston specializing in pastries, cakes, and specialty desserts, has come up with a pink pomegranate honey crème brûlée cake for their October offering to fight breast cancer. The owner, Candace Chang, has committed to donating $2 from every sale to the Holly Rose Ribbon foundation, which provides free reconstructive surgery to post-cancer patients who can’t afford health insurance. If you’re in Houston this month, stop by Midtown to satisfy your sweet tooth and help a great cause at the same time.

PAUL Bakery — Washington, D.C.

This D.C. bakery is joining 20 other area restaurants in the Pink Jams! Take a Bite out of Breast Cancer campaign. The nonprofit combines a message of early detection and breast cancer awareness with fashion, art, social events, and live music, and Pink Jams! hopes to reach out to young men and women under the age of 40. PAUL has committed to making a donation for each combination purchase of either a strawberry tartlet and strawberry juice or a red fruit donut and coffee.

Blue Collar Restaurant — Miami, FL

Chef and owner Danny Serfer of the Blue Collar Restaurant is pulling out all the stops for breast cancer awareness. For the month of October, the restaurant will be known as "Pink Collar Restaurant," with all the servers wearing pink uniforms in place of their signature blue. Chef Serfer has created a special Pink Collar Breast Cancer Menu in honor of his mother who lost her own battle to breast cancer, and all proceeds from the offerings will go toward the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Menu items include Marsha’s Salad, named after his mother, a seared duck breast, and pink Key lime bars for dessert.

Hard Rock Hotel — Las Vegas, NV

In Las Vegas’ swanky Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, both Pink Taco and 35 Steaks + Martinis are offering specials this month to benefit the Susan G. Pink Taco has created a special all-you-can-eat-and-drink menu featuring pink-colored tacos and tortilla chips as well as pink margaritas, and will donate $5 per order. 35 Steaks + Martinis has promised to give half of their proceeds from select wines, Sundays through Thursdays.

Buffalo’s Southwest Café — GA

More than a dozen locations of Buffalo’s Southwest Café in Georgia are partnering with the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, a prestigious cancer center recognized by the National Cancer Institute, in the second annual Fight Takes Flight campaign against breast cancer. Buffalo’s will be serving pink chips all month with two popular appetizers — their Queso Verde Cheese Dip and Fire Roasted Tomato Salsa — and donating $1 to the Winship Cancer Institute per order.

IHOP — Syracuse, NY

The IHOP in Syracuse is just one of 24 Central New York restaurants that are participating in Baking for Breast Cancer, benefiting Positively Pink Packages, a charity that provides free diagnosis and chemotherapy care packages to breast cancer patients. The Baking for Breast Cancer restaurants have each added a special baked good to their menu whose proceeds will go directly to Positively Pink Packages. While other restaurants have come up with everything from baked apple streusel dumplings to "raspberry ruffle truffles," IHOP Syracuse will offer a pink strawberry sundae to join this special campaign.

Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants — Chicago, IL

Phil Stefani is using his Chicago culinary empire to fight back against breast cancer this month, benefiting the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation, whose mission is to support breast cancer research and education. All three of Stefani’s Italian-inspired Tuscany locations will be featuring a Calzone di Nutella, while 437 Rush, an Italian steakhouse, and Riva Crab House on Navy Pier, a seafood and steak house, will offer tiramisu. A dollar from each of these special desserts sold will be donated to Lynn Sage.
