Cooking pearl barley with chicken:

Step 1: Prepare the grits.

The second method is much faster, and we use it in this recipe. Take a clean frying pan and a cooking spatula. Pour the cereal into the pan and fry without oil, stirring constantly to warm the cereal evenly from all sides. It is necessary to calcine the cereal for 10-15 minutes, after which pour it into a separate plate, because we still need a frying pan.

Step 2: Prepare the ingredients.

First, a few words about meat. If you like a leaner taste - buy fillet, it is very easy to work with it, and white meat just meets this taste. If you like a little more - take the legs, cut off the skin from them and separate the meat. There is little meat in the wings, so they are not good. The meat needs to be cut into medium-sized cubes, a little later we will fry it. We wash onions and carrots with running water and peel and peel them. Onions need to be finely chopped on a cutting board, and carrots cut into small strips or can be grated on a coarse grater. Now everything is ready for cooking.

Step 3: Cooking pearl barley with chicken ...

Again we return to the pan, grease it with vegetable oil and fry the chopped onions and carrots for 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly. Then we add to them slices of chicken, salt and pepper to taste. Add the spices. When the meat is ready, after about 10 minutes, add the cereal to the pan. If the pan is not high enough, transfer all the contents to a pan with thick walls. Fry all the contents in a pan for another 5 minutes, and then pour water or broth so that its level is 3 centimeters above the level of the cereal. Stew for about an hour until the water evaporates and the barley is ready. If the water has boiled away and the barley is not ready yet, add some more water.

Step 4: Serve the finished pearl barley with chicken ...

We lay out the finished barley with chicken in portions on plates and serve on the table. This porridge, like any other, should be hot or warm. You can decorate the dish with a sprig of greenery. The dish, healthy and tasty, is on your table, and therefore - Bon appetit!
