Ingredients for making mushrooms with sauerkraut

Cooking mushrooms with sauerkraut:

Step 1: prepare the onion.

We take onions and with the help of a kitchen knife we ​​peel it from the husk. Then we wash it under running water and put it on a cutting board. Using the same sharp inventory, cut the vegetable into two halves, and then cut each part lengthwise and crosswise into small squares no larger than 5 millimeters in size. Shredded ingredient is transferred to a free plate.

Step 2: prepare the mushrooms.

To begin with, rinse the mushrooms well under running warm water and then put them on a cutting board. Therefore, before sauerkraut we will fry with other ingredients in a pan, you need to manually squeeze it from excess juice and taste it. If it is very acidic, it should be washed under water. To do this, we squeeze the acid cabbage squeezed from the juice into a separate bowl and wash it several times under cold running water, and then we discard it into a colander or sieve so that water comes out of it. Then we shift our ingredient into a separate dish.

Step 4: cook the mushrooms with sauerkraut.

A dish with mushrooms and sauerkraut is often called another sauté. Although sauté is not a type of dish, but a method of its preparation. And the essence is as follows: all the ingredients of the dish are prepared gradually one after another, falling into the same container, in which the general dish is finally cooked and only at the end all the ingredients are mixed. The same cooking process will occur with our delicious dish. To do this, take a pan and pour vegetable oil into it. We put the container on medium heat. We spread the chopped onions from the plate with a tablespoon into a frying pan with heated oil and, constantly stirring the vegetable ingredient with a wooden spatula, fry it for 5-7 minutes to transparent color. Then in the same container for the onion we transfer the mushroom caps cut into slices from the plate and fry the mushroom ingredient together with the onion until the mushrooms acquire a golden color. And only after that we transfer sour cabbage to the container for our two ingredients. Salt and pepper to taste, and with the help of a teaspoon add caraway seeds to the prepared dish. Reduce the heat and give the opportunity to stew the cabbage for 25-30 minutesuntil it becomes soft. The preparedness of this ingredient can be determined by the golden brown color. After that, using a kitchen spatula, gently mix all the finished ingredients in a container. Attention: it is better to take a deep container for the preparation of our dish. You can cook a dish not only in a pan, but also in a cast-iron cauldron. After the mushrooms with sour cabbage are well extinguished, turn off the heat, and cover the container with a lid and let it boil a little more.

Step 5: serve the mushrooms with sauerkraut.

With the help of a kitchen spatula, we transfer our finished still hot dish into a deep dish and serve it on the table. Mushrooms with sauerkraut can be served as an independent dish, as well as a side dish for meat. It is very tasty for mashed mushrooms with sauerkraut to serve mashed potatoes or fried potatoes.
